A Home Health Aide works under the guidance, supervision, and direction of a Supervisor. Home Health Aides provide Home Health Care Services according to the plan established by the Supervisor based on the patient's situation, condition, and needs. A Home Health Aide reports to the immediate Supervisor or, if not assigned, to the Coordinator.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Satisfactory completion of PA State-approved training course for Home Health Aide.
- Compliance with all requirements set forth in personnel policies.
- Knowledge of when a task is not within the ability or training of a Home Health Aide and the good judgment not to do anything that might endanger the client.
- Ability to decide what needs to be done, within the limits of prescribed HHA duties.
- Ability to comprehend directions and instructions given by Galaxy Home Care supervisors, the client, and the client's family and carry them out in the best interest of the client.
- The necessary skills for maintaining patient records.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Helping client with eating and drinking.
- Helping with the grooming of hair including shampoo, shaving, and the care of nails.
- Helping client on and off bedpan, commode, and toilet.
- Helping with oral hygiene and care.
- Bathing clients in bed, tub, or in the shower as directed by Supervisor.
- Helping the client to move from bed to chair, wheelchair, and in walking.
- Taking client's temperature, pulse, and respiration when directed by Supervisor.
- Following schedule set by Supervisor and in accordance with family.
- Keeping client's records as instructed by Supervisor.
- Helping client put clothes on.
- Maintaining client confidentiality.
- Washing dishes and other housekeeping chores in the bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen.
- Cooking and serving meals for the client only as required in the Care Plan.
- Listing supplies needed and shopping for the client if necessary.
- Dusting and vacuuming rooms the client uses without moving furniture.
- Making and changing the client's bed; washing client's personal laundry if necessary.
- Assisting, as directed by supervisor, with simple procedures as an extension of physical, speech, or occupational therapy.
